This page was written by reading the code that sets the cookies, not from a template. Everything named below is a cookie this site really sets, and nothing that is not named is set. It has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer.
Vertly sets two cookies for signing you in. It also uses advertising cookies from Meta, Google and TikTok, and asks first in the UK, the EEA and Switzerland. There are no analytics cookies. Where we ask, nothing advertising related runs until you press Accept. Anywhere, you can say no from “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page, and a browser that sends Global Privacy Control is treated as having already said no.
| Cookie | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
sb-<project>-auth-token | Keeps you signed in. It holds the session Supabase issues when you sign in. Each request renews it, so a long evening of watching does not end with you signed out. Where the session is too large for one cookie it is split across sb-<project>-auth-token.0 and .1, which are halves of the same thing rather than extra cookies. | Up to 400 days, which is the longest a browser will keep a cookie. Removed when you sign out. |
sb-<project>-auth-token-code-verifier | Set the moment a sign-in begins, and read once when you come back from the emailed link or from Apple or Google. It is what proves the sign-in being completed is the one you started, on this browser. | The length of the sign-in itself. Deleted as soon as it completes. |
vertly_ad | Set only when you open vertly.tv from one of our ads. In the UK, the EEA and Switzerland it is set only after you accept advertising cookies, and nowhere is it set once you have said no. It holds the click reference the ad platform put in the link, so that if you then sign up or buy, we can tell that platform its ad worked. It is read only by our own server. | 90 days. |
vertly_consent | Remembers your answer about advertising cookies, so you are not asked on every page. It holds only the word “granted” or “denied”. Set only once you answer. | Six months, after which we ask again. |
<project> is a fixed identifier for our database, the same for every visitor. It says nothing about you.
All four are first-party, scoped to the whole site, and sent only to vertly.tv. The two sign-in cookies are strictly necessary in the ordinary meaning of the phrase: without them there is no way to know who is asking for an episode, so there is no way to give you the one you paid for.
This list is longer than the one above, which is the point of having it.
When you have accepted advertising cookies (in the UK, the EEA and Switzerland), or have not said no to them (everywhere else), and your browser does not send Global Privacy Control, pages on this site load the advertising tags of Meta (the Meta Pixel), Google (the Google Ads tag) and TikTok (the TikTok Pixel). They tell those platforms that a page was viewed or a checkout was started, so that our ads reach people likely to enjoy Vertly and so we can show ads again to people who have visited. They set the platforms’ own cookies, such as _fbp, _gcl_au and _ttp, which last up to about 13 months and are read by those platforms under their own privacy policies. They never receive what you watch.
To opt out, choose “Cookie settings” at the bottom of any page and press No thanks. The tags stop loading from the next page, and we clear the cookies they set on vertly.tv. Turning on Global Privacy Control in your browser, or blocking third-party scripts, does the same.
Consent is what the law in the UK, the EEA and Switzerland asks for before a cookie that is not strictly necessary. So there, and wherever we cannot tell which country you are in, you see a banner first, and vertly_ad and the advertising tags stay off until you press Accept. No thanks is the same size as Accept, and saying no changes nothing about watching.
Elsewhere we do not ask up front, but the same choice is one tap away under “Cookie settings”, and it is respected in the same way.
Every browser lets you block or delete cookies, usually under privacy settings, and you do not need our permission. If you block ours, the free episodes still play, because they need no account at all. Signing in, buying anything, and picking up where you stopped watching will not work, because each of those has to know which account is asking.
Deleting the cookies signs you out. It does not delete your account, your coins, or the episodes you have unlocked. Those live in our database, not in your browser, and they are waiting the next time you sign in.
This page describes vertly.tv in a web browser. Cookies are a browser mechanism, so our iPhone and Android apps do not use them. What those apps collect is the same either way, and the privacy policy is the page that describes it.
If we start setting a cookie that is not on this page, the page changes on the same day, and the date at the top moves with it.
